The Teledyne LeCroy quantumdata 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module for HDMI 8K  Testing is equipped with both an HDMI Tx/Output port for TMDS and Fixed Rate Link (FRL) video generation and an HDMI Rx/Input port for TMDS and Fixed Rate Link (FRL) video and protocol analysis. The HDMI Tx and Rx ports support testing of formats up to 8K formats at 1485MHz pixel rates.  Full compliance test suites are supported in FRL and TMDS modes for both HDMI sources and sinks.

Testing for HDCP 2.3 content protection is supported on both the video generator and analyzer side for TMDS modes. HDCP 2.3 support for FRL will be provided in the near future.

Both the HDMI Tx and Rx ports support functional testing and compliance testing for Fixed Rate Link (FRL) and Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC). The full suite of compliance tests are supported on both the eARC Tx and eARC Rx sides.

The Teledyne LeCroy quantumdata 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module for HDMI Testing is equipped with an HDMI Rx port supporting HDMI 2.1 Fixed Rate Link (FRL) and Forward Error Correction (FEC) capture analysis and decode up to 48Gbps (12Gbps/Channel). The HDMI Rx analyzer port provides visibility into the TMDS and Fixed Rate Link packetization—FRL packets, Character blocks and Super blocks. The module also supports the link training functions of a receiver in the FRL mode in both 3 lane and 4 lane configurations to test a source's FRL link training function.

The 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module for HDMI Testing provides both Real Time analysis and deep analysis test features necessary to verify the development of your HDMI 2.1 TMDS or FRL-capable source device. NEW! Analysis of Display Stream Compression (DSC) is also supported. Deep analysis enables you to identify and resolve interoperability problems early in the product life cycle. The 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module depicts the incoming TMDS or FRL packet structure and associated control elements. For FRL this includes depicting the Character Block structure and Super Block structure. All FRL packet data elements are assigned precise timestamps. The Real Time analysis feature enables developers to quickly assess the state of the incoming video by looking at the incoming video and the essential video and timing parameters in real time.

The 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module is also equipped with a Tx port for video generation of TMDS and FRL streams to test next generation 4K and 8K displays NEW! Display Stream Compression (DSC). The video generator enables you to run functional tests FRL-capable display devices by rendering uncompressed, unencrypted FRL streams at up to 8K video resolutions at lane rates up to 12Gb/s and at an aggregate link rate of 48Gb/s. The full video generator function for TMDS and FRL supports free selection of specific video formats (including 8K), colorimetry, bit depth, chroma subsampling and test patterns.

The module supports the full compliance test suites for Fixed Rate Link (FRL) sources and sinks. This includes tests for Protocols, Link Training, 8 Bit/Component Pixel Encoding, Deep Color Pixel Encoding/Decoding, 8 Bit/Component Video Timing, Deep Color Video Timing, 3D Video Timing, Audio Encoding, 3D Audio Encoding, Multi-Stream Audio Encoding, AVI/GCP InfoFrame, EDID. Forward Error Correction - Reports the Lane Error Counts and Reed Solomon Corrections Count in the SCDC Reed Solomon Corrections Counter registers.

Filtering of Data Transactions – Check box filtering allows you to remove data types from view that you are not interested in. Filter out all data islands except audio sample packets and audio infoframes, for example, to compare the respective values for sampling rate.

Searching Through Data – Search through the captured data to locate the specific occurrence of the data and or events you are interested in.

Fixed Rate Link (FRL) and TMDS Video GenerationSupports video generation of TMDS and FRL streams to test FRL-capable displays at up to 8K video resolutions at lane rates up to 12Gb/s and at an aggregate link rate of 48Gb/s. Link Training - Supports link training either as a source (video generator) or as a sink (protocol analyzer) through EDID and SCDC register transactions in accordance with the link training states defined in the HDMI 2.1 specification. Monitor Link Training transactions in the Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) utility to show SCDC reads and writes over the DDC channel.
