The Teledyne LeCroy quantumdata 980 18G Video Generator module for HDMI Testing supports video and audio functional testing and compliance testing of HDMI 2.0 sink devices at TMDS characters rates up to 600MHz for testing ultra high definition HDTVs with 4K x 2K resolutions running at 50/60Hz.

The 980 18G Video Generator module for HDMI Testing provides over 600 standard video timings and 300 test patterns necessary for testing HDTVs including tests for HDMI protocols such as HDCP and EDID. The module has an LPCM sine wave generator which can be configured to output a user defined sampling rate, bit depth, amplitude and frequency.

You can configure the list of format timings and test patterns using the Format List Editor and Image List Editor. These convenient tools facilitate and quick access during testing. The module provides a Format Editor for creating custom format timings or for quickly making modifications to existing timings for testing.

The 980 18G Video Generator module for HDMI Testing offers a variety of features for testing HDMI protocols. The EDID Decode feature enables you to examine the contents of the EDID of the connected HDMI 2.0 sink or display in human readable text. The HDCP verification utility enables you to verify a sink’s response to HDCP authentication. The SCDC Decode feature enables you to view the current register settings of the SCDC.

The module also offers HDMI 2.0 forum approved compliance tests as well as UHD Alliance approved compliance test tools. The compliance test features enable developers of next generation HDMI video displays to pre-test or self-test (where allowed) their products to ensure compliance and interoperability. These compliance tools can improve time to market by helping to identify protential problems early in the development cycle and by ensuring that the products will pass compliance testing at the designated authorized test centers.

The optional Quantum Data Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) application enables you to monitor EDID exchanges, HDCP and SCDC transactions between the module’s HDMI Tx port and a connected HDMI 2.0 sink device. You can monitor in real time through the 980R or 980B’s embedded touch display and save files for later viewing or for sharing with colleagues at other locations.

NEW! The module offers a couple of optional solutions for running HDR functional tests on modern HDR-capable UHD displays. The HDR Lab option was developed jointly with industry experts Florian Friedrich and Joe Kane to address HDR end to end validation in post production and to verify various HDR attributes such as peak brightness, native contrast, average brightness level, signal clipping and color gamut. The optional Dolby Vision test image verifies a Dolby Vision display’s Dolby Vision-specific EDID data, its response to the Dolby Vision protocol handshake and its handling of the Dolby Vision signal and metadata. The Hybrid Log Gamma test image provides an assurance that the HLG metadata is not impeding the ability of the display to render the image.

The 980 18G Video Generator module for HDMI Testing can be controlled either through the PC-based 980 GUI Manager or through the embedded 980 GUI Manager running on the 980 itself. The 980B/980R built-in color touch screen provides a graphical user interface (GUI) to control the instrument and will enable you to view incoming video and metadata in the Real Time mode when using the module’s optional analyzer feature available in subsequent releases.

The following are a list of features and benefits for the 980 18G Video Generator module for HDMI Testing.

Video Pattern Testing – Test a display’s HDMI inputs with over 600 standard formats to ensure that it can render video test patterns including deep color and HDMI 3D patterns. Over 300 video patterns supported. Create your own custom formats using the user friendly Format Editor. Scroll bitmap patterns to test for motion artifacts. Create custom test pattern lists and custom format lists to facilitate testing.

HDMI Audio Testing – Send audio patterns, tones & noise through HDMI, SPDIF or Optical digital audio outputs. Program audio parameters such as sampling rate, bit depth and channels. Use a variety of audio formats including LPCM and Dolby and DTS compressed formats.

EDID Testing – EDID Editor utility enables you to identify EDID problems and view the entire contents of the EDID of the sink device in human readable text using simple navigation through blocks and pages.

SCDC Testing – SCDC Editor utility enables you to view the SCDC register contents on a connected display.

Metadata Testing – InfoFrame utility enables you to configure, enable/disable and view the outgoing metadata (InfoFrame and data islands. Custom set individual parameter values on various InfoFrames such as AVI, HDR, VSIF and transmit these custom values in real time.

HDCP Testing – Verify an HDMI HDTV’s response to HDCP authentication. Supports both HDCP 1.4 and HDCP 2.2/2.3 authentication testing. Send HDCP encrypted video content to a downstream repeater (e.g. AVR) and/or sink (e.g. DTV). Check the authentication response from the sink.

CEC Testing – Verify an HDMI HDTVs CEC message response.

Protocol Monitoring with the Aux Channel Analyzer – Monitor EDID exchanges, HDCP authentication transactions and CEC messages with an HDMI HDTV or downstream distribution network.

Compliance Testing – Run HDMI 2.0 forum approved compliance tests as well as UHD Alliance approved compliance test tools. The compliance test features enable developers of next generation HDMI video displays to pre-test or self-test (where allowed) their products to ensure compliance and interoperability.

NEW! High Dynamic Range Functional Testing – The module offers a couple of optional solutions for running HDR functional tests on modern HDR-capable UHD displays.
