There are no new features for the 882E included in the Release 2.8.1.
The following anomalies have been corrected in the Release 2.8.1.
- Serial port (RS232) settings now persist through power cycles.
- PacketTx's on-screen Extended Colorimetry now matches up with the generated report.
- PacketTx's IT Content field now changes according to the format selected.
- The issue where the HDMI chip locks up when using HDCP and switching timings is fixed.
Note: The release files can only be applied to the 882E
generator (not the 882C or 882D generators).

You can upgrade your generator using the procedures in the Users
Guide. Please note that you will have to verify that your current
generator is operating with Release 2.7.0 or 2.8.0. To verify that your current
generator is operating with one of these releases, enter the following command:
verf?
Release 2.7.0 should return the following information:
20.1883800, 01.04.11
Release 2.8.0 should return the following information:
20.1884000, 01.04.11
After verifying that the generator is operating with Release 2.7.0 or 2.8.0, upgrade your generator to 2.8.1 by completing the following
high level steps which are detailed in the Users Guide:
- Download the 2.8.1 Zip file to your PC and unzip the file.
- Back up the existing System and Library directories from the
generator's flash memory to your PC:

up files.
- Transfer the 2.8.1 System and Library directories to your generator's
flash memory: Transfer files. Transfer the
System directory first.
- Configure the generator to boot from the generator's flash memory:
Boot from flash
- Power cycle the generator.
- Verify that the generator is running the current 2.8.1 version
of the vxWorks file by entering the following command:
verf?
20.1884200, 01.04.11
- Verify that the vxWorks file is: 20.1884200.
- Verify that the BootRom version is: 01.04.11.
- Verify that the generator is running the current 2.8.1 version
of the gateware files by entering the following command:
verg?
404C,1029,2072007:401A,8,1082007:401B,8,1082007
- The first listing is the Lattice FPGA gateware. The next two listings are the transmitter gateware files for the DVI and the HDMI output. The gatewares are separated by colons. Verify that the transmitter gateware files are:
401A,8,1082007:401B,8,1082007.
