Enhanced includes EDID compliance functional test for new formats
Elgin, Ill. — October 20, 2005 — Quantum Data™, a leading provider of video testing products, today announced support for the latest ‘C’ revision of the Consumer Electronics
Association’s CEA-861 uncompressed digital video standard on their 880-series video test
instruments. The improvement includes support for 52 new formats and changes to the
880-series’ HDMI EDID compliance test features.
The 52 new entries now appear in the 880-series’ format library. These allow testing all
variations of the latest base CEA format set. The EDID compliance test feature, which
provides pass/fail reports for on-line viewing, printing or distribution via a web-based
networking environment, has been updated according to the latest set of CEA-861-C
EDID encoding rules.
Quantum Data instruments offer a low-cost solution for conducting a broad range of
functional tests. These tests complement the transport-layer tests conducted in
compliance labs, which typically require more expensive equipment. Tests include
looking for pixel errors, checking timing parameters, checking pixel data values, and
conducting source E-EDID literacy tests. The ability to emulate CEA-861-C sources
and sinks assures manufacturers of high-definition televisions (HDTVs), set-top boxes,
players and repeaters that their high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) ports are
well integrated and functioning properly.
