New test patterns facilitate video calibration on
high-end 4K-capable HDTVs
Elgin IL - June 19, 2013 - Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test and compliance solutions, today announced the release of a set of ISF test patterns for its 780 and 780A Handheld Test Instruments. The test pattern package was on display in the Quantum Data booth at Infocomm 2013. The ISF patterns have been licensed to Quantum Data by the Imaging Science Foundation (ISF), and are the result of Quantum Data’s continued collaboration with ISF. The ISF test patterns enable A/V professionals to calibrate the video on high end HDTVs with greater resolutions and dynamic range of whites and blacks. The following ISF test patterns at various resolutions and aspect ratios are included in this offering:
• Geometry – for testing geometry and resolution parameters
• White Pluge – for calibrating white level for dynamic range
• Color gamut – 2D/3D primary and secondary color patterns to fine-tune colors and gamma
• Black Pluge - for calibrating black level for dynamic range
• Red-Blue Color Multiburst - measures chroma resolution by identifying the maximum
frequency individual lines can be discerned.
With the inclusion of the ISF test patterns, the 780 series test instruments now serves as a complete reference source for video calibrators thereby eliminating the need for supplemental source equipment and content such as Blu-Ray players and reference disks which vary across suppliers.
The Quantum Data 780 Test Instrument has become an important tool in the industry for diagnosing HDMI interoperability problems both in the field for installers and in the lab for developers. The 780 series test instrument served as the reference test equipment for the CEDIA HDMI Troubleshooting course.
