Test suite includes protocol testing, MHL compliance testing and HDCP compliance testing
Elgin IL — June 30, 2011 — Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test equipment, today announced a comprehensive suite of test solutions for Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL). The test suite includes solutions for functional testing, protocol analysis, MHL compliance testing, CBUS monitoring, and HDCP compliance testing for both MHL source and sink devices. The centerpiece of the MHL test suite is a new test point adapter, the TPA-MHL-8R, used to connect to other Quantum Data test equipment as well as some new compliance tests.
MHL is a video interface derived from HDMI but targeted to provide an interface from mobile devices like smart phones to HDTVs or other displays. The MHL standard is designed to connect to smart phones by reusing the existing 5 pin micro-USB connector that many phones have rather than requiring a separate 19 pin HDMI connector.
With the addition of TPA-MHL-8R, the test solutions for MHL leverage investments in existing Quantum Data test instruments. The 980 Protocol Analyzer (297MHz “Gen 3”) provides protocol analysis for testing MHL sources as well as optional MHL source compliance testing. It can be used in conjunction with the 882 for sink compliance testing. The 780 Handheld Test Instrument or 882 can be used for functional testing for both MHL source and sink devices. HDCP compliance testing for MHL source and sink devices is provided using the existing HDCP Compliance Test application of the 882E Analyzer.
