New product identifies the root cause of interoperability
problems in HDMI systems
Elgin IL — March 24, 2008 —
Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test equipment, today announced the release of the HT-180 Handshake Tester. The new test instrument enables users to identify the root cause of HDMI interoperability problems encountered in both field and lab environments. The new product encapsulates expertise gained through Quantum Data's extensive work in creating HDMI and HDCP compliance test equipment.
The HT-180 provides four HDMI ports for passive connection to an HDMI system comprised of 2 or 3 devices, typically a source (e.g. set-top-box or disk player), a repeater (e.g. audio/video receiver), and a sink (e.g. an HDTV). Tests are initiated with the press of a button. Once a test is initiated, the HT-180 monitors and logs +5V power status, hot-plug events, and HDCP and EDID transactions over the DDC. If connected to a PC, the HT-180 can also log data to a file. When a test is complete, the unit's LCD display presents simple reason codes (with severity levels) that reflect suspect behavior of specific HDMI products in the system. An optional PC graphical user interface is provided for users to enter information about the site & equipment in the HDMI system under test. Log files, collected during a test, can be viewed on-site or e-mailed to experts for post-mortem analysis with the Auxiliary Channel Analyzer Java utility.
