Quantum Data 882E Test Instrument Approved for DisplayPort HDCP Compliance Testing

Elgin IL — November 30, 2007 — Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test equipment, announced that their HDCP test application for DisplayPort has been approved by VTM, Inc., working as an agent of VESA, for use as an authorized tool for testing HDCP compliance of DisplayPort sinks.

The HDCP test application will allow manufacturers of displays and flat panels to bring fully HDCP compliant DisplayPort products to market faster and without interoperability problems. Up to now designers have not had a good way to verify compliance to the complex HDCP specification.

The HDCP compliance test system offered by Quantum Data enables developers of DisplayPort products to perform a fast and comprehensive HDCP compliance tests on DisplayPort sink devices. Operation is simple. The HDCP compliance tests are initiated through the 882E front panel with the press of a few buttons. Once initiated, the tests run continuously until completion without requiring user interaction. When a test series has been completed, the system issues a report that provides detailed pass/fail results for each individual test. Reports can be viewed online, transferred over a network or printed.

Quantum Data has leveraged its industry expertise in HDCP content protection, gained through their efforts in creating an HDCP compliance solution for HDMI, to develop the HDCP compliance test for DisplayPort.

Orders for the DisplayPort interface are being taken now with lead times of four to six weeks. Initially the DisplayPort interface is available only on purchases of new 882E units. Upgrade options for existing 882E instruments and a DisplayPort receiver (Sink) with an HDCP Compliance Test will be available in the near future.
