Quantum Data Adds HDMI Version 1.1 and Analyzer Support to 880 Series Video Test Instruments

Upgrade provides dual HDMI/DVI Tx outputs, dual HDMI/DVI analyzer Rx inputs, report capability, support for HDCP 1.1 repeater testing and enhanced HDMI audio

Elgin, Ill. — April 28, 2005— Quantum Data™, a leading provider of video testing products, today announced an upgrade to their new 880-series video test instruments. Quantum Data video generators are among the first to be certified by an HDMI Authorized Testing Center (ATC) for HDMI 1.1 level work (view certification).

The upgrade extends source performance from 81MHz to 165MHz on both HDMI/DVI transmit connectors — so that both single-link DVI and HDMI sinks can be tested to the maximum rate using one instrument. Sink performance on the two HDMI/DVI analyzer input connectors extends to 150MHz. Detailed reports are now available for the analyzer tests and compliance functional tests. The 880 series' web-based networking capabilities enable you to distribute these reports throughout your collaborative environment. Other enhancements include HDCP 1.1 improvements include the ability to test repeaters, and the source's internal sine wave generator now supports 8-channel LPCM with sampling rates up to 192kHz.

The 882 series instruments build on the success of the 802-series which has become a reference standard for HDMI/CEA application-layer development and production testing. With both generator and analyzer products, the 880 series instruments can emulate both source and sink devices. This assures manufacturers of high-definition televisions (HDTVs), set-top boxes, players and repeaters that their High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) ports are well integrated and functioning properly.

With the new improvements, the web based 882 series offers a low cost solution for conducting a broad range of functional tests to complement the transport-layer tests conducted in compliance labs that typically require more expensive equipment. The 880 series instruments can also be used in the ATCs for conducting source E-EDID literacy tests.
