Changing boot device between internal flash and CompactFlash

The 880 Series has an internal flash drive as well as a front-mounted CompactFlash slot. You have the flexibility of booting firmware/gateware from either location.

At power-up you can easily change the boot device between CompactFlash and the internal flash drive.
Here’s the procedure:
  1. You can hold down a key, such as TOOLS key during power-up.
  2. At the boot menu, select soft key for !BootDev.
  3. Select soft key for desired boot device; ie Internal or PCMCIA.
  4. Press the ENTER (OPTIONS) key.
  5. Press the down-arrow key on the far right.
  6. Select the soft key for Boot Now.
  7. Press the up-arrow to boot.
This makes it easy to use one firmware release in internal flash, and an alternate release in the CompactFlash slot. However, you should be aware that the generator will always retrieve Library files (such as all of the web applications) from internal flash.
