The Teledyne LeCroy quantumdata 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module for HDMI Testing is equipped with an HDMI Rx port supporting HDMI 2.1 Fixed Rate Link (FRL) and Forward Error Correction (FEC) capture analysis and decode up to 48Gbps (12Gbps/Channel). The HDMI Rx analyzer port provides visibility into the Fixed Rate Link packetization—FRL packets, Character blocks and Super blocks. The module also supports the link training functions of a receiver in the FRL mode in both 3 lane and 4 lane configurations to test a source's FRL link training function.

The 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module for HDMI Testing provides the deep analysis test features necessary to test the development of your HDMI 2.1 FRL-capable source device. Deep analysis enables you to identify and resolve interoperability problems early in the product life cycle. The 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module for HDMI Testing depicts the incoming FRL packet structure and associated control elements. This includes depicting the Character Block structure and Super Block structure. All FRL packet data elements are assigned precise timestamps.

NEW! The 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module is also equipped with a Tx port for video generation of FRL streams to test FRL-capable displays. The video generator enables you to run functional tests on  FRL-capable display devices by rendering uncompressed, unencrypted FRL streams at up to 8K video resolutions at lane rates up to 12Gb/s and at an aggregate link rate of 48Gb/s. The initial phase of the video generator function is implemented through a playback function using pre-captured FRL streams with various resolutions, frame rates and bit depths. Future releases will include a full video generator function with specific selections of video formats, colorimetry, bit depth, chroma subsampling and test patterns.

NEW! The 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module is also supports enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) Tx/Rx functional testing. The solution provides emulation of an eARC Tx and Rx functions over the eARC Common Mode and Differential Mode data channels. Supports discovery and disconnnect, heartbeat, status and capabilities data structure. Also supports monitoring and transmission of audio through the eARC audio channel. Enhanced Audio Return Channel compliance testing is also supported. Currently the module supports all thirty-three (33) eARC Tx compliance tests and all twenty-seven (27) Rx compliance tests.

The quantumdata 980 48G Protocol Analyzer / Generator module for HDMI Testing captures and decodes incoming HDMI 2.1 streams packetized with Fixed Rate Link (FRL) packet structures. These FRL-related data elements are depicted graphically in the Event Plot and in table form in the Data Decode window. The Forward Error Correction (FEC) characters are also shown as associated with the specific Character Blocks. Each element is assigned a precise time stamp. Users can search and filter the FRL captured data by type.

The module supports the functions necessary to emulate an HDMI 2.1 FRL-capable sink device. The module emulates the EDID elements related to FRL in the HF-VSDB and supports the link training function using the control registers in the SCDC. The 980 module's Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) utility supports monitoring both the EDID exchange and the FRL Link Training transactions—reads and writes to the SCDC registers over the DDC channel. The ACA enables you to verify link training functions to identify potential interoperability problems.

The module also supports the functions necessary to emulate an FRL-capable source device to test dispalys. The video generator enables you to run functional tests on  FRL-capable display devices by rendering uncompressed, unencrypted FRL streams at up to 8K video resolutions at lane rates up to 12Gb/s and at an aggregate link rate of 48Gb/s.

Fixed Rate Link (FRL) Source AnalysisProvides deep analysis test features necessary to test the development of your HDMI 2.1 FRL-capable source device. The 980 HDMI 2.1 Protocol Analyzer depicts the incoming FRL packet structure and associated elements. This includes depicting the Character Block structure and Super Block structure. All FRL packet data elements are assigned precise timestamps. Users can view the embedded TMDS capture and the image frames as well to verify their FRL packetization.

Forward Error Correction - Reports the Lane Error Counts and Reed Solomon Corrections Count in the SCDC Reed Solomon Corrections Counter registers.

Filtering of Data Transactions – Check box filtering allows you to remove data types from view that you are not interested in. Filter out all data islands except audio sample packets and audio infoframes, for example, to compare the respective values for sampling rate.

Searching Through Data – Search through the captured data to locate the specific occurrence of the data and or events you are interested in.

NEW! Fixed Rate Link (FRL) Video GenerationProvides FRL video generation through playback of pre-captured files. Select 8K, 4K or 1080p files with varying bit depths and frame rates for transmission. The modules video generation functions initiates link training to establish the number of lanes and the lane rates.

Link Training - Supports link training either as a source (video generator) or as a sink (protocol analyzer) through EDID and SCDC register transactions in accordance with the link training states defined in the HDMI 2.1 specification. Monitor Link Training transactions in the Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) utility to show SCDC reads and writes over the DDC channel.

Built-in touch screen display – Enables you to control the 980 directly through the 980 built-in color touch screen display.
