No new hardware required with updated test tool
Elgin IL - Sept 28, 2010 - Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test equipment, today announced that their 882E-based HDCP compliance test application for the HDMI® interface has been updated to support the HDCP 1.2 compliance test specification (CTS). The HDCP 1.2 CTS is based on the HDCP 1.4 specification which incorporates the changes required by the feature updates of the HDMI 1.4 specification.
One of the primary changes in the HDCP 1.2 CTS is the ability to test devices that support the CP and EDID HPD (Content Protection and EDID Hot Plug Detect) feature in accordance with the HDMI 1.4 specification. This feature required updates to many of the tests in the HDCP 1.2 CTS. The Quantum Data solution supports all the necessary CDC commands including the CDC_HPD command for setting the state of the CP and EDID Hot Plug Detect feature. No additional hardware is required to emulate this new feature during HDCP compliance testing.
The updated tool enables operators to select which HDCP CTS to use in testing: HDCP CTS 1.1 or 1.2. The HDCP compliance test is initiated through the 882E front panel or PC application. Once initiated, the tests run to completion with limited user interaction required. A typical test suite can be completed in as little as 5 minutes. When a test series has been completed, the 882E instrument issues a detailed report that provides pass/fail results for each individual test. Reports can be viewed through a web browser, transferred over a network or printed.
In addition to the compliance test, the 882E offers a debug environment that helps identify and resolve HDCP problems during development, prior to submission for compliance.
The updated HDCP compliance test tool is an optional feature. Existing customers will need to purchase the upgrade option. The new test tool will be available for download from the Quantum Data web site: http://www.quantumdata.com/downloads/. Contact your Quantum Data sales rep or distributor for upgrade pricing.
